Drivetrain option(s): FWD/4WD
The best-selling hybrid vehicle of all time was the first Toyota to move over to TNGA — for the 2016 model year — and an updated plug-in hybrid version showed up for 2017 (the Prime). Mild updates should come next year for the regular Prius liftback, perhaps with the Prime's more stylish exterior details.
Modified from a version sold in Japan, the new Prius AWD-e received the green light for the U.S. based on demand from Northeast U.S. dealers who said customers wanted a more weather-worthy Prius. The awd option will cost about $1,000 on higher trim lines.
